Anaheim Ducks Sign Josh Manson to Long-Term Contract

A financial services professional with Wells Fargo Advisors, Walt Hommerding serves as the Managing Director-Investments at the firm’s office in Newport Beach, California. In his free time, Walt Hommerding follows the National Hockey League as a fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and the Anaheim Ducks.

The Anaheim Ducks added another player to their long-term roster by signing defenseman Josh Manson to a contract extension that will keep him in Anaheim through the 2020-2021 season. The contract is reportedly worth $4.1 million per year. Manson will play alongside defensemen Hampus Lindholm, Cam Fowler, and Sami Vatanen, who each recently signed long-term deals with the team.

The 26-year-old Manson was drafted by the Ducks as the 160th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Despite entering the NHL as a sixth-round pick, however, he has become one of the team’s most promising players.

During the 2016-2017 season, Manson scored five goals and tallied 12 assists in 82 appearances. Entering the 2017-2018 season, the Northeastern University alumnus had posted career numbers of 10 goals and 25 assists in 181 regular-season games. As long as he stays healthy, Manson will likely continue to be a core member of the Ducks' defense, which is one of the best in the NHL.

Golf Digest Rates Cypress Point No. 3 in America, No. 1 in California

Walt Hommerding, Managing Director-Investments at Wells Fargo Advisors in Newport Beach, California, joined the wealth management company in 2002. When not providing clients with a holistic approach to financial planning and wealth management, Walt Hommerding enjoys golfing throughout the Orange County area and, when possible, at courses all around the United States.

Golf Digest has announced its top golf courses in California for 2017-2018, and once again, Cypress Point Club at Pebble Beach tops the list. Cypress Point was built by Alister MacKenzie and Robert Hunter in 1928 and broke onto the Golf Digest America’s “100 Greatest Golf Courses” list in 1966, the list’s first year. The course has maintained its grounds over the last century, though it has endured fewer renovations compared to similar courses.

Cypress Point is a visually stunning golf course running along a jagged stretch of Pacific coast line. The course is also known for its unique bunkering and commitment to classic golf course architecture, not to mention the omnipresent cypress. In 1987-1988, the course was ranked No. 2 in the nation, its highest ranking. For 2017-2018, the course ranks No. 1 in California and No. 3 in America.
