A Few of California's Finest Golf Courses

Experienced financial advisor Walt Hommerding has spent more than 15 years with Wells Fargo Advisors in Newport Beach, California. Positions he has held with the company include Senior Vice President, Managing Director-Investments, and Senior Portfolio Investment Manager. Beyond his professional activities, Walt Hommerding enjoys playing golf at courses throughout Orange County.

According to Golf Digest, California is one of the nation’s leading states for world-class golf courses, with 12 courses ranking among the top 100 in the United States. One of the highlights is the Cypress Point Club, the No. 3 course in America for the 2017-2018 season. In a unique path to greatness, the Cypress Point Club has resisted modernization and remains a timeless ode to the sport’s earliest days.

Pebble Beach Golf Links, meanwhile, is widely regarded as the premiere seaside golf course in the country, with numerous holes directly overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The owners have made frequent renovations since the course was established in 1919, and they continually strive to make it better. As a testament to this determination, No. 7-ranked Pebble Beach will host its sixth United States Open in 2019.

A few more California golf courses worthy of note include Los Angeles Country Club North, Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, and San Francisco’s Olympic Club.
